2 T bacon fat
2 T butter or 3 T other fat
Stir in, cover and cook gently for 10 minutes:
3 C finely shredded cabbage
1/2 C finely chopped onion
1 chopped green pepper, seeds and membrane removed
Stir in these ingredients. Stir frequently. Cook until well heated:
1 C cooked rice
2 C tomato pulp or thick stewed tomatoes
Salt and pepper
No bacon fat? Use 4-5 T total of butter and olive/canola oil.
I’ve used a can of tomato sauce, a can of tomato paste, or a can of tomatoes in place of the tomato pulp/stewed tomatoes.
Start by getting the rice going, then chop and cook the cabbage, onion, etc. The rice is usually done cooking just as the rice is ready.
