The Man of the House and I love our cheese. It was a big deal when Tillamook ran out of their sharp cheddar earlier this year. It was another big event for us when we noticed that Costco now offers Kirkland Signature sharp cheddar cheese. We did an informal taste-off and compared the two side [...] I adore books. That’s why I was so excited to see that Half Price Books is having a Labor Day Sale. Everything is 20% off through Monday. I bought an armload of books yesterday and I plan to go back this weekend. A gal can never have enough books! Yesterday was quite a day. Farrah Fawcett passed away after a long battle with cancer. Michael Jackson died after an unexpected coronary event. The big take away for me was that illness can hit any of us at any time. Ironically yesterday also brought a letter from my health insurance company. My health insurance premiums [...] I make our weekly menu every Wednesday. The week on the menu runs from Thursday to Wednesday. Why do I do it that way instead of from Sunday to Monday? The grocery flyers come out on Wednesday. I incorporate sale items into our weekly menu. I’m all for the state having a balanced budget, but I also like to make homemade liqueur. Vodka and brandy are the base for most of the things [...] Over the holiday weekend I experimented with a homemade window cleaner. Homemade Window Cleaner 2 cups water 3 TBS vinegar 1/2 tsp dish detergent (liquid) Add the above to an empty spray bottle. Shake the bottle to mix the ingredients and you’re ready.
