This little guy was on the side of our house this week. I’ve seen salamanders in Florida, but not in Washington. I did some Internet research and they are here. I think this might be a Western Redback Salamander.

I hope you have a wonderful Fourth of July. The above photo is from a trip to Port Hadlock, Washington that we took yesterday. The Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftain are in Port Townsend. On Thursday we toured the Lady Washington. Today we watched from shore while the ships engaged in a mock battle. In the back of the house, where no one ever goes, I found this beautiful bush. I’m not sure what sort of a plant it is, but I’m very glad that I decided to take a walk behind the house. I’m not sure if this is a bush or a tree. But I adore the bright pink buds that contrast with the moss. Yesterday we spent some time in Port Townsend. It was a gorgeous day that reminded us of why we left the city. I have a problem. Now when I run an errand, I have to drive into town. It takes about fifteen minutes. The problem isn’t really the drive. The problem is that town is so breathtakingly beautiful that I don’t want to go home again. All I want to do is get a coffee and watch [...] Recently we took a trip to Port Townsend. The days are hectic now, but it helps to remember how peaceful it was there. |
