I’m not sure what it is but recently there have been alarmingly large spiders in the house. This hairy-legged specimen was in my bathroom sink the other day.
Earlier in the week I found another one in my bathroom and two in the basement. One of the ones I spotted in the basement was so large that I regretted not having a harpoon. I don’t ever remember having a harpoon longing before but I surely did that night. Since I was fresh out of harpoons, spears and the like I made do with a mop handle. The spider was hanging on the ceiling and made a rapid descent after several threatening jabs from my mop. Once the spider hit the floor he was off and running. He positively vaulted over a table support and sprinted toward the sofa. Unfortunately for the spider he was just too darned huge to be able to fit under the sofa. (He was big I tell you. Really big!) By that time The Man of the House had heard my shrieks and came to my rescue. He made quick work of the spider.
If the spider incursion doesn’t slow down I’ll have to rethink the harpoon issue. 🙂
